Vision Statement

Radio Phoenix™ resolves to be the preeminent media source for local arts, cultural, information and music content in central Arizona.

Mission Statement

Radio Phoenix™ exists to enrich the lives of central Arizonans through educational, insightful and stimulating programming that reflects the unique character of the Valley of the Sun while connecting us with our neighbors in the larger global community.

Operating Goals

Radio Phoenix™ operates in support of the goals of our parent organization, Arizona Community Media Foundation (AzCMF).

Specifically, our operations support:

  • Long-term development of a comprehensive public access media system serving the Valley and central Arizona;

  • Media literacy training and public access to production equipment for the creation and distribution of local content, including news and public affairs programs exploring issues often ignored by traditional media outlets; and

  • Opportunities for cooperative management via volunteer service, including appointments to standing committees, station staff positions, our Community Advisory Board and the Board of Directors

Purpose Statement

The programming department at Radio Phoenix™ exists to facilitate the acquisition and development of quality, innovative content that furthers the station's mission.

To that end, we seek programs that:

  • Document the unique history and cultural heritage of central Arizona;

  • Increase public access to progressive ideas, viewpoints and issues;

  • Respect the rich diveristy of our local and global community;

  • Provide news coverage of underrepresented groups;

  • Showcase work by local and independent artists, musicians and other creative personalities; and

  • Encourage the educational, artistic and experimental uses of radio.

Radio Phoenix™ is central Arizona’s community radio station. We were launched in 2008 as a program unit and media service of Arizona Community Media Foundation (AzCMF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We use radio, media literacy, social media, and community outreach initiatives as tools for building harmonious human relationships among populations within greater Phoenix who are generally not engaged by public radio.

We bring the World to Phoenix, and Phoenix to the World™

We enrich our community with a diversity of ideas, information, cultural traditions, and music genres not usually heard on the radio dial in Phoenix. In addition to our radio service, we teach the history of radio broadcasting, train hosts and producers how to create radio programming, as well as provide opportunities for our community to engage and hear its many unique voices.

  • Owned and operated by members of the community
  • Meets the needs of the community
  • Promotes local - local musicians, local artists, local organizations and the arts
  • News, views and music you never hear anywhere else

What Is

Community Radio?

AzCMF filed an application for a full power community-based FM radio station with the FCC in 2007. While our application was pending we created a community-based internet broadcast service.

October 2013 the FCC gave the go ahead for Radio Phoenix to build a station.

You can support our efforts to bring full power local FM community radio to Phoenix by making a tax deductible contribution
